Sunny days in the 50s and 60s are my favorites. Like today. Writing on beautiful days is tough. In fact of late I haven’t even tried. Instead I have taken longer walks with my dog, Henry, or run an errand or any other excuse to be outside (if only in and out of the car). Especially in Michigan, with our rough long winters, it makes good sense sometimes to choose not to write. But the operative word is “choose”.

So don’t be a slave to your desk, note pad, computer or however you scribe your writings. Do take advantage of great weather. Do keep your mind flowing because that little break from writing for a walk undoubtedly will release at least one writer-ly gem (especially for those writing about nature). Just make sure you choose to not write so you can take your fair-weather break without guilt or remorse.
