The Sierra Club just shared that today is Rachel Carson’s Birthday. Born in 1907, she is a must-read for those who care about nature and/or writing. Silent Spring started the environmental movement as the first definitive work on the dangers of pesticides. Her earlier work, The Sea Around Us, was also best seller. Ms. Carson was a wonderful writer, solid scientist and heroic.
