My Classes

Class Offerings

I am currently (March 2017) teaching Writing about Nature at Washtenaw Community College on main campus. This class is meeting Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon from March 1 to 22 (registration is now closed). I am also offering Islands of the Great Lakes this semester that will meet Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., from March 29 to April 19.

In the Spring/Summer 2017 semester I am offering three classes. First is another offering of the Islands of the Great Lakes on Wednesdays, June 7-28, 2017, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Second is Understanding the Great Lakes on Wednesdays, May 3-24, 2017 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Finally, I am offering Coastal Great Lakes on Saturdays, May 6-20, 2017, 10 am-noon plus a full Saturday field trip on June 2, 2017 to South Haven, Michigan. This is a course I developed and taught last Fall. Our focus is on shipwrecks, lighthouses, maritime Museums, research facilities and vessels.

I am taking the Fall 2017 semester off to work on my own book and do some traveling.

See the right column on the home page of this blog for dates and times. Registration always closes three days before the class starts. See online WCC catalog for details (Great Lakes, Islands and probably the Coastal class are listed under “General Interest: History and Culture” and the Writing class is under “Creative Arts: Creative Writing.”

My classes are jam-packed with information, images, videos and fun. My WCC classes meet in the evening for two hours a week for four weeks and are non-credit. The exception is when I am invited to teach in Chelsea at the Adult Learners Institute or in Saginaw at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
