Is It Already Past Mid-December?!

For me it’s been a good news/bad news month. How about for you?

Bad news is that I’ve been crazy-busy.

Good news is that I have finally reengaged with my own “writing about nature” with many hours spent on my book. I have also hired a personal assistant for two hours a week to help me with everything from reorganizing books and files to researching topics. She starts January 5th. Right now she is in Iceland finishing her master’s.

Not sure if this is good or bad news, but I’m also learning the writing software program called Scrivener. Big learning curve, but will really help me with this and other book projects. I think. Anyone else use it?

Hope you are doing your own writing about nature. If you’re in the Ann Arbor area, I am teaching Writing About Nature again starting February 24th at Washtenaw Community College. It’s four sessions on Tuesday nights. See information in right column, My Classes above or click here for more information. It’s non-credit, but I do give homework :) One of my students took me up on my suggestion of doing the November National Novel Writing Month and wrote a 200,000-word novel finishing November 25th! Handwritten! I’m thrilled for Cynthia. Sometimes a little push shove helps!

My push shove to myself was starting this blog for the nonfiction equivalent, Write Nonfiction Now. I’ve signed up for their free January 20th teleseminar on writing memoirs. It’s the first of three parts with the others future months. I suggest you check out Nina Amir’s website and all its resources.

Happy writing and holidays!
